Bibliography on CO2 Effects on Vegetation and Ecosystems: 1990-1999 Literature (ORNL/CDIAC-129)

DOI: 10.3334/CDIAC/vrc.003

Edited by Michael H. Jones and Peter S. Curtis
Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology
The Ohio State University
in cooperation with the Institute for Scientific Information (July 2000)

How the Bibliography was Developed

This database provides complete bibliographic citations (plus abstracts and keywords, when available) for more than 2700 references published between 1990 and 1999 on the direct effects of elevated atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) on vegetation, ecosystems, their components and interactions. This bibliography is an update to Direct Effects of Atmospheric CO2 Enrichment on Plants and Ecosystems: An Updated Bibliographic Data Base (ORNL/CDIAC-70), edited by Boyd R. Strain and Jennifer D. Cure, which covered literature from 1980 to 1994. This bibliography was developed to support the Carbon Dioxide Meta-Analysis Project (CO2MAP) at The Ohio State University, but was designed to be useful for a wide variety of purposes related to the effects of elevated CO2 on vegetation and ecosystems.

Due to its size, printed copies of the bibliography are NOT available or distributed from CDIAC. However, the database IS available in a variety of user friendly formats that may be accessed, downloaded, and printed directly from our Web site:

  • PapyrusTM (a registered trademark of Research Software Design, 2718 SW Kelly St., Suite 181, Portland, OR 97201, U.S.A.) bibliographic files (select the desired format to access the appropriate bibliographic files, then click the right mouse button and save each file in the specified directory on your system; for more complete instructions see Accessing CDIAC's Anonymous FTP Area.). The instructions for use of PapyrusTM files and free read-only PapyrusTM software are located here.
  • PDF - The WordPerfect« listing of the bibliography is available as cdiac129.pdf and the keyword index as kwindex.pdf. The user may print these files using the free Adobe« Acrobat« Reader software. This PDF file has also been broken down into six individual files to allow users greater ease in downloading and printing:
  • WordPerfect« (a registered trademark of the Corel Corporation, 1600 Carling Ave., Ottawa, Ontario, Canada K1Z 8R7)
  • ascii
  • A keyword index may be used to locate specific citations of interest.
