National Land Cover Data 1992

Abstract:
This data set is one complete raster coverage of the USGS
National Land Cover Data (NLCD). The NLCD is a 21-class, land
cover classification of the contiguous United States. It is derived from
early to mid-1990s Landsat Thematic Mapper satellite data. A
complete description of this data can found at
http://landcover.usgs.gov/natllandcover.php.
Please note: the 2001 NLCD data are also available.
Purpose:
The NLCD data is distributed by the USGS EROS Data Center for each U.S.
state. The spatial data set distributed here represents the processing of
State files into one contiguous raster coverage file for the United
States. The single raster coverage is intended for use in
spatial analyses for the U.S. Individual State coverages
can be downloaded separately from
http://landcover.usgs.gov/us_map.php

may be used to open .zip files. Due to the size limitation in earlier versions
of these softwares, only Winzip 9.0, Stuffit 8.5, or later versions are recommended
to open the zip files distributed here.
