Workshops & Events

The SOCCR Coordinating Team designed the SOCCR to be useful for policy makers, scientists, business groups, environmental and related public interest groups. To supplement and complement the governmental and scientific review process, the Team has sought comments and suggestions from all of these stakeholders. To this end, several workshops were held to seek input on how well the SOCCR addresses scientific, policy, business and other interests and concerns.

2006

Open Town Hall Meeting at Fall AGU 2006:

Third Stakeholders’ Workshop October 10, 2006:
The SOCCR Coordinating Team convened a workshop for Stakeholders to assist in reviewing the “public review draft” version of the document and to evaluate the effectiveness of the stakeholder-involvement aspects of the document’s overall preparation process.

2005

Open Town Hall Meeting at Fall AGU 2005:

Joint Stakeholders/Authors Workshop October 24 and 25, 2005:
A workshop was held in October 2005 to assist in reviewing and improving the early draft of the SOCCR/SAP 2.2. The workshop provided an opportunity for the stakeholders to provide input and feedback directly to the authors.

Candidate Lead Author’s Workshop, May 16-17, 2005:
The SOCCR Coordinating Team convened the first workshop of candidate lead authors for the SOCCR in May 2005. Having completed both an informal comment period on the SOCCR outline and a formal public comment period on the SAP 2.2 Prospectus, the proposed author team met to consider all input and begin work on drafting the report.

2004

Open Town Hall Meeting at Fall AGU 2004:

First Stakeholder's Workshop November 15 and 16, 2004:
The first workshop was stakeholders was held at the Marriot Key Bridge Hotel in Arlington, VA in November of 2004. Several stakeholders participated in the workshop and worked with the Coordinating Team to create a structure for the SOCCR that would present the information in the most useful format. After the workshop, the Coordinating Team began recruitng the interdisciplinary team of lead and contributing authors from public and private institutions to create the first draft of the SOCCR/SAP 2.2.
